What is Havening?
What is Havening?
Havening is a psychosensory technique used when you are upset, anxious or stressed. Psychosensory – the use of senses to affect well-being.
Havening can be used therapeutically in a one to one session to heal past memories which carry negative emotions and thoughts that hold you back from getting the most out of this ONE life that we have. I have met many people who have left it, like me in my 50’s to eliminate those thoughts that we are not good enough, been judged long enough and can now take control of our lives and do what we want to do!
Havening can help eliminate and process the negative emotions and thoughts and convert them into learning which enables the memory to be logged in our unconscious mind as case closed. Some memories lay dormant and unhealed as we may not have had the resources at the time the events happened, to process them. Our unconscious mind protects us in this way and knows when we are ready to heal them and put them away once and for all. Usually you know you are ready as you seek an interest in personal healing of how you think and ways to change those thoughts, have more control over how you respond in situations you can’t control. Being calm in a crisis is a wonderful thing!
Havening can be used by the individual to create well-being, this is called ‘ Self Havening’. It’s like first aid for the mind. When you are stressed out and overwhelmed, you can use it to calm your nervous system down and reset. It is very powerful.
My FREE live workshops host opportunities for ‘Self-Havening’ experiences and enable you to feel a positive emotion and thought when you are Havening.haven

How is Havening used?
Havening can be applied by yourself using a process called ‘Self Havening’.
When you feel overwhelmed, stressed or anxious in the present moment you can use Havening touch.
When you rub your palm over palm, cross arms and downward stroke from shoulders to elbows or stroke down your face across your cheeks, you create a delta brain wave that releases serotonin and oxytocin.
This sensory touch also reduces cortisol to rebalance the nervous system when in overwhelm. Once a touch is applied, it instantly creates the delta brain wave and chemical release, allowing you to feel calm.

Havening in a one to one therapy session can be used to release traumatic past memories that are causing present blocks or limiting your success from achieving what you want in life. For example, you may have limiting beliefs about yourself, that you are not good enough to pass an interview or exam so it stops you from getting a qualification or that job you desire.
Traumatic memories do not have to be big trauma experiences there can be times when you were at school in the past when you were mocked for putting your hand up in class or the colour of your hair and this could have led to certain beliefs about yourself that you hold to this day. An intense emotional response can potentially initiate a traumatic encoding in your brain.
We may not even associate certain events in our past with the word ‘trauma’ but the patterns or beliefs we hold about events that we experienced remain in our unconscious mind and are hardwired until we release them through healing.
Do I have to talk about my trauma?
The answer is ‘No’, not if you don’t wish to. You will be invited to think of the relevant event and I will guide you to the right one. Once there it is important to activate the event by thinking about it, feeling, seeing and hearing what was happening and it can be helpful to explain the event. You will not be speaking about it for long. It is not the same as talk therapy. It can be disclosure free, this means you will not be talking about it and re-traumatising your brain.
Havening therapy can be experienced in a one to one session online or face to face. You will be able to release negative emotions and thoughts attached to a memory that is creating the patterns and beliefs that are blocking your success. Do you want to go for that promotion, leave your current career and start a business? Whatever that dream is, I can help you on your road to freedom from those blocks. I will advise you in a FREE consultation what skills I have in my toolkit that can support your journey. The same skills I used to free myself. I broke free from my past and am building my dream future. You can too!
How many sessions will I need?
Every experience is different for everyone. The aim is to allow you to move forward in your healing journey. No matter how big or small the change is experienced, you can release parts of the past that have been holding you back. . I will support you along the way and be guided by how you are feeling and thinking after each session. Each one-to-one session lasts up to 90 minutes. I work online predominantly unless there are certain reasons to work face to face which can be discussed based on each situation.
